Walter Pape: Walter Pape discovered his artistic talent in his early twenties. He prefers landscapes and flora for his subjects. As media he mostly works in oil or watercolour. Being introduced to Faye Digulla he discovered the art of print making and became very enthused about the various print making techniques. As a trained civil engineer he is used to detail and precision which reflects in the work he does. Etchings and lino cuts are his preference.
Walter was raised and educated in Germany. In 1966 he moved with his wife Maria to New Liskeard. He took art classes early on with various well known artists. Walter was one of the founding members of the Palette and Brush Club. As an active participant in the art community, Walter joined the executive of the Temiskaming Art Gallery and has been the chair for over 20 years each time. Presently he is the treasurer for the board.
The inspiration for his art is derived from his surroundings and the travels in the world.
